The Josephites are a society of priests and brothers working in the African-American community in the United States.
Their work began in Baltimore in 1871. Today, they have 120 priests serving in 57 parishes, 19 of which have elementary schools. Their work extends throughout the United States, primarily
in the Deep South.
The Josephite apostolate is to carry the Gospel of Christ and the sacraments to everyone, to educate children, and to carry out Christ's
command to care for the poor, the hungry, and the victims of injustice.
