For several
decades, direct response fundraisers have participated in, and
benefited from, the system of exchanging and renting donor
files. These open and dynamic relationships are founded upon a
mutual covenant of trust, honor and ethics. Over time, many
practices have become commonly accepted as industry standard and
most veteran list professionals, fundraisers, database providers
and other participants are aware of these “rules of the
road.”
